Thousands of young people in Sri Lanka are eager to start an IT-related education and career but often lack the financial means to achieve this. Jobs in Sri Lanka may pay below fair wages and offer sub-standard working conditions. In the Netherlands, there are over 100,000 software/IT vacancies, with companies regularly fighting for talent.

Your study fund

The study fund is filled by our partners with subsidies and donations. These funds are then used to offer you, students, a loan to follow IT-related education. For example, you might choose a computer science or an information technology degree. To be suitable for the study fund, you must have completed your high-school studies, possess an intermediate+ level of English, and meet your target educational program’s entry requirements.

Build your career

As a member of our talent pool we connect you to one of our IT partners, allowing you to work in one of our available Sri Lankan offices for an international company. The organization

 

Walikuku works together with the Kalapuwa Foundation, which has been active in Sri Lanka since 2014 and has an enormous track record and network.

We aim to facilitate and support your studies and work life. We are in contact with local educational institutions, take care of registrations, provide student finance, guide you during your job search, offer employment opportunities, and follow your work to help you advance in your field. In addition, we take care of the administrative so you don’t have to.

There is always local support from Dutch people on-site to guide you during your onboarding. We also offer you the possibility to work with Dutch programmers in Sri Lanka for a period of 1 to 2 weeks, so that you get accustomed to the work, pace, and remote collaboration runs optimally.

My preferred languages are python, java, and I used selenium for automation. I am very open and see value in working in teams to reach bigger goals. My current priority is to finish my degree and start an IT career either as a software engineer or data scientist. My goal is to become a software quality assurance engineer.

Hello, I am Thushan and I am 23 years old. I am a 3rd year undergraduate in BSc (Hons) Information Technology at the Sri Lanka Institute of Technology.
